Dear Friends and Supporters of Haven of Hope,
What an incredibly challenging and difficult year 2020 has been! Because of Covid-19, each one of us has had our daily routines upended, and as a community and nation we’ve been challenged to adapt to changing circumstances and new ways of doing things. Yet even in this year of trouble we are constantly reminded of God’s faithfulness. In Psalm 46 we read:
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
What a great blessing this truth is to the Haven of Hope Board of Directors and to our many volunteers as we worked to open our men’s homeless shelter in the midst of a world-wide pandemic. To be honest with you, it’s a good thing we didn’t know then what we know now. It’s a good thing we didn’t know back in 2018 just how difficult circumstances were going to be when we opened the shelter in 2020!
Yeah, that might have scared us off!
But in our weakness, He is strong. God has shown Himself faithful to us and to you. He is “our refuge and strength.” He is “an ever-present help in trouble.” And this year, because of His daily mercy and constant faithfulness, Haven of Hope men’s shelter has opened and is serving those men facing homelessness in Van Wert.
Friends, there’s no other way we can say it other than, “God made it happen!” We are in awe of the overwhelming support we’ve received from so many individuals, organizations, businesses, community leaders and churches over this past year.
Your donations, financial gifts and willingness to volunteer are directed and blessed by the Lord. We are able to serve and bless our guests as a result. Again, God made it happen in and through each of you.
So on behalf of the Haven of Hope Board of Directors, THANK YOU!
Thank you for being willing to be used by God to serve those made in the image of God. We believe that each man who stays at our shelter is…Made by God. On Purpose. For a Purpose. And we are committed to showing them dignity and respect from the moment they walk into our building and partnering with them as they seek a new path and a way towards self-sustainment.
Thus as we come to the end of a very difficult but greatly blessed year, we humbly ask that you consider remembering Haven of Hope with an end of year, tax-deductible financial gift. Your ongoing support is our daily reminder that He is our “ever-present help.”
Please consider sending a cash or check donation to Haven of Hope Homeless Shelter, PO Box 732, Van Wert, OH 45891. You can also make a donation online at paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/3997284. Thank you, once again, for your kind generosity. We wish you every blessing in Christ during this Christmas season and into the new year.
With Deepest Gratitude,
Pastor Mike Saylor
